Hamiltonsbawn railway station opened on 25 August 1864 & closed on 1 February 1933.

The last Stationmaster at Hamilton’s Bawn railway station was called Hughie McAllister, “a very nice man, small with sandy hair. His wife was small and fat and they had one child, a daughter called Pearl who had lovely curly hair”. (Quote from an elderly resident who remembers them).

Pearl married a man called McKay Kenny who was a schoolteacher and later worked in the Education Office in Armagh.

Villagers travelled on the train from Hamilton's Bawn to Warrenpoint on the Sunday School Excursion. One could also have travelled to Belfast, via Armagh.
